The flagship subscription

The Snax Skool Library

Weekly classroom for Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia guitar. Five live touchpoints a week, a growing archive of 290+ lessons, homework that gets reviewed by Jack, and a community of players who care about this music as much as you do.

$900 / year

Annual subscription. Roughly the cost of ten 1‑on‑1 lessons with Jack, except you get a year of weekly lessons, live classes, and full archive access.

What's included

  • Lick of the Week, every Monday morning, 9 AM ET. A short, focused study.
  • Song of the Week, every Tuesday. Long-form, ~2-hour breakdown. The lick is the seed; the song is the full study.
  • Three live class sessions every Wednesday, Beginner at noon, Intermediate at 2 PM, Masterclass at 4 PM. Show up live; ask anything.
  • Thursday round-up Q&A, live, on Zoom. Anything you didn't get to.
  • Friday homework review, submit your video by end of Thursday. Jack reviews and posts feedback. Anonymous by default; leaderboard if you want it.
  • The full lesson archive, 290+ existing study pages (Library I & Library II), with click-through tables of contents, transcript-based study guides, and original video on every page.
  • The community feed on Skool, 24/7. Students ask each other things; Jack drops in throughout the week.

Who it's for

Players who already know their basic chords and can hold a strum. The Library doesn't teach you what an A minor is, it teaches you what to do with one when you're playing Sugar Magnolia. If you can play along to a record, you can keep up here.

Skill level isn't a barrier, the Wednesday classes are stratified Beginner / Intermediate / Masterclass so you can drop into whichever fits.

What you'll learn this year

The Library cycles through songs week by week. So far the archive covers (alphabetically): Althea, Bertha, Big River, Bird Song, Black Throated Wind, Brown Eyed Women, Casey Jones, China Cat Sunflower, Dark Hollow, Deep Elem Blues, El Paso, Eyes of the World, Fire on the Mountain, GDTRFB, The Golden Road, I Know You Rider, It Must've Been the Roses, Jack A Roe, Jack Straw, Mama Tried, Me and My Uncle, Mexicali Blues, Monkey and the Engineer, New Speedway Boogie, Not Fade Away, OMSN, Ramble on Rose, Rosalie McFall, Scarlet Begonias, Ship of Fools, Sugar Magnolia, Sugaree, Tennessee Jed, TLEO, On the Road Again, and The Race Is On.

And the catalog keeps growing.
